Managing risk with softball
4-H Softball is a 4-H activity designed to teach cooperation, teamwork, and other life skills to 4-H members. The focus of 4-H Softball is to build self-confidence and to be FUN for members. Only enrolled members may participate.
Expectations
Players must be on a list and the $2.00 American Income Life Insurance premium must be taken out on each player.
Each team must abide by the specific rules set by the county.
Sportsmanship is the primary concern and is in effect at all times.
A First Aid Kit must be supplied by each team.
Teams must follow the rest of the equipment rules set by the county.
Cloverbuds may only participate in softball activities if they are separately organized in a K-2 age group, using appropriate equipment and learning basic skills in a non-competitive environment.
Suggested pitching regulations
The official slow pitch mat is suggested to determine the strike zone.
The top of the arc of the pitch must be over the batter’s head.
Equipment
The umpire should wear a catcher’s mask.
The catcher must wear a catcher’s mask.
Batters should wear a properly fitted helmet.
No metal spikes allowed.
