Introduction to the core skills training
4-H volunteers are on the front lines of delivering positive youth development experiences to young people across the Minnesota 4-H program.
This training series will equip you with core skills and competencies in your role as a 4-H volunteer.
The training video series will prepare you to:
Understand the key elements that produce thriving youth programs.
Build positive and developmental relationships with young people.
Use the experiential learning model in your program.
Build interpersonal skills that reflect the values of 4-H.

Video 1 - Thrive Model

In this video you will learn about the science and research behind positive youth development and understand the four ingredients that serve as the foundation for thriving 4-H programs. This short video will ground you in the essential elements that should be in place regardless of what role or program you are serving with.

Video 4 - Interpersonal Skills

In this video you will explore interpersonal skills that will support your ability to develop effective relationships, work skillfully with others and express empathy and understanding for others. This video focuses on being a kind, accepting, compassionate and flexible volunteer who is ethical and deals with conflict in a positive manner.

Understand the role and benefits of positive interpersonal relationships in 4-H.
