Ensure a safe and positive experience for 4-H members attending overnight and out-of-county or out-of-area experiences
An existing 4-H volunteer who wishes to deepen his/her connection to the program
An individual who may otherwise be only episodically involved with 4-H due to scheduling
A parent or other caring adult wishing to take an active role in 4-H programs
Help provide a safe, positive and inclusive experience for youth attending overnight events as part of their 4-H experience
Attend 4-H event with youth, providing direction, support, and guidance as needed
Work as a team with other chaperones and staff to ensure responsibilities are completed
Monitor and manage any issues of discrimination, bias or conduct of youth participants ensuring youth are following the rules of the event and the 4-H Code of Conduct
Assist with carrying out the medication administration policy
Quiet your delegates and see they get to their beds without disturbing others.
Keep in touch with your delegation to encourage and support them. You are their counselor and advisor for this event.
Encourage youth to participate as appropriate in 4-H opportunities.
Engage youth in reflection and learning during the event to help them make sense of their experience
