Role description for project leader

As a project leader, you will

  • Help 4-H'er to choose developmentally appropriate projects

  • Use 4-H project curriculum (when available) as the basis for project work

  • Encourage the 4-H'er to reflect on how the experience has helped them to develop life skills

  • Identify community resources and connections for their project work

  • Participate in volunteer development opportunities to stay current with information, learn new skills, and maintain 4-H standard of high-quality experiences for youth

  • Support the positive growth and development of young people through project work

  • Create opportunities for young people to learn, lead and serve as they develop project and life skills

  • Help them to become competent, caring and connected citizens of character in their community

Time required

  • One program year, about 2-4 hours per month

This role is ideal for people who have

  • Strong organizational skills and project knowledge

  • A sincere interest in teaching and sharing knowledge and skills with youth and adults in an educational setting

  • Strong interpersonal skills good at communicating with, youth, parents and volunteers
