Each discipline teaches safety, concentration, self-discipline, self-confidence, goal setting, decision-making and courtesy as the young people learn basic skills and build toward more advanced activities. Both competitive and cooperative skills are included. Participants are exposed to local policies and regulations, laws and ethical behavior both by repeated demonstration and through personal practice.

The Minnesota Shooting Sports Hall of Fame honors people who have made outstanding contributions to this program statewide. Nominees can be youth, parents, coaches or anyone else involved with this program. The Hall of Fame subcommittee reviews nominees and selects up to three finalists. The Minnesota 4-H Shooting Sports Project Development Committee then votes to select an inductee. The induction ceremony takes place at the Minnesota 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife Invitational held each September.
To nominate someone for this award, fill out and submit the nomination form. Any one may nominate one person per year. Nominations are due by June 1 of each year. Nominations submitted after June 1 will be considered for the following year.
