Horse Project Development Committee
What does the state horse PDC do?
Oversee the development, planning, promoting and implementation of horse science educational programs and events for Minnesota 4-H youth, their families and leaders.
Stimulate interest in and promote 4-H youth programs with horses by communicating effectively with all partners: members, families, leaders, staff and other partners.
Regional meetings
Learn and discuss best practices with other counties. Communicate with 4-H members and leaders about policy changes, give feedback to the state horse Project Development Committee. Read past minutes from regional horse meetings.
Local meetings
Provide input for your local horse program development committee (PDC). Contact your local Extension educator for more info.
How to qualify
Have a strong desire to nurture positive youth development using research-based methods.
Be familiar with 4-H horse project materials and forms
Communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
Be familiar with how strong committees work and be willing to apply those principles.
What PDC members do
Represent opinions and needs of 4-H horse project members in your region
Participate at each PDC meeting during your term.
Serve as a liaison between Extension staff, members, parents and other volunteers in the 4-H horse program.
Promote the 4-H horse project and help to train 4-H'ers and volunteers
Assist with statewide horse project activities.
Support and evaluate state-level member and leader educational events.
Develop programs that recognize outstanding members and leaders.
