Role description for Engineering Design Coach
As a 4-H activity leader, you will
Help members to choose age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate activities
Encourage members to reflect on their learning
Identify community resources and connections to make this activity possible
Connect with club administrative volunteer to ensure there are supplies, procedures are followed, etc.
Purpose
Foster positive youth development through leading a team in the 4-H Engineering Design Challenge (EDC).
EDC volunteers work with teams as “coaches” to create a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment for all youth.
Time required
Work with teams and meet approximately twice/month for a total of 20-30 hours (or more) prior to the showcase of their machine at the local county fair or state EDC event.
Times and dates will be determined by coach and youth team members (along with parent/guardians).
This role is ideal for
People who enjoy group teaching and sharing knowledge and skills with youth
Effective communicators with youth, parents, and other adult volunteers and staff
Great delegators willing to work with other volunteers to plan activities
