Simple actions to build belonging

• Greet youth and family members when they arrive

• Convey warmth and respect in a way that makes sense to youth and family members

• Show mutual respect and active inclusion of all youth

• Develop shared group goals

• Embed activities so 4-H members get to better know each other and explore shared interests

• Create opportunities for youth to lead and serve as mentors to younger members

• Discuss what it looks like, sounds like, and feels like to be supportive of each other, and practice providing caring support when 4-H members tackle difficult challenges or when they present or share
