As youth development professionals, volunteers, parents and guardians, it's our responsibility to help young people develop a mindset of being responsible for themselves, their communities and the world. It is also our responsibility to develop that same mindset in ourselves, which includes understanding and confronting racial injustice.

The resources are organized under broad racial and ethnic headings. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and does not represent the only audiences that live within the state of Minnesota. This page will be updated with more resources for the groups listed below and for additional groups not yet listed.

Latinx

A nonprofit resource and service founded in 1981 by Latinos for Latinos. Programs and services connect families to resources, skills and systems and create an environment for people to be engaged and empowered.

Casa Guadalupe in Cold Spring seeks to improve the quality of life for Latinos and those of diverse backgrounds through programming and services that empower families.

A leadership development program for immigrant young adults in Minnesota. Through NAVIGATE these youth help their community and themselves by working to access college education, jobs and legal status.

Consulting and advocacy services for Latinos in the Red Wing area to promote their productive integration into the community.


African American

Founded in 1926, the Urban League advocates for policies that eradicate racial disparities and links African descendants and other people of color to opportunities that result in economic success and prosperity.

Online hub where scholars, educators, activists, youth and youth allies can access resources to empower and develop black youth voice.


Native American

Located at Bemidji State University, AIRC supports cultural enrichment related to American Indians. Students and community members can learn about the history, language, and beliefs of native people.

MAIC provides excellent services that meet the needs of the American Indian community within a foundation of cultural values. Programming is focused on preserving and supporting American Indian cultural and artistic traditions. Activities for all ages are focused on healthy living.

An alliance of the major Indian nonprofits and several Indian businesses in the metro area. Committed to building community through sector economic development and large-scale development. NACDI works with American Indian nonprofits to rebuild their structure to respond to the demands and opportunities of the economy.
